On a July morning in 2024, a group of cows on a New York dairy farm found a way out. They went through a fence or a gate or a gap, the way animals sometimes do when the moment is right. People came quickly. One by one, the cows were rounded up and brought back.

But not Olive. Olive ran into the trees. And when the others were caught, she kept going.
